diesel engine and offers 60,000 pounds of
thrust and pullback and 9,000 foot-pounds
of rotational torque. The drill also features
an industry-exclusive, patented two-pipe
drilling system.
Other features include the heavy-duty,
planetary-driven anchor system and an
exclusive, dual-pivot drill frame allowing the
entry angles drillers need without compro-
mising stability while drilling.

Kennametal
With proprietary block features such as an
internal groove on the block bore and a wide
variety of tip geometries and bit selections,
all backed by outstanding service and sup-
port, Kennametal’s new rotating/non-rotat-
ing block and bit system, RockRazor, provides
contractors maximum flexibility and value for
trenching and foundation drilling.
Having the right tools for the right ap-
plication makes it easy to improve perfor-
mance and save time and money. With one
block style, featuring an octagonal hole in
the block rear and an internal groove on
the block bore, three different retainers can
be used along with six different rotating or
non-rotating tips. Not only can rotating bits
be quickly swapped out with non-rotating
bits when applications or conditions change,
non-rotating flat-spade bits can be indexed
in up to four positions for maximum produc-
tivity. Or use a combination of both the flat
spade tool along with Kennametal’s “X” Series
conical tools. Flat spade tools help clean out
loose material faster; top-line conical tools
cut the harder material.
At the tip end, proprietary point designs
combine with Kennametal’s advanced
carbide grades and higher head hardness,
resulting in far less cracking and longer
performance in even the most abrasive
conditions.
Kennametal Inc. is a leading global manu-
facturer of tooling and associated engineer-
ing services for successful construction work.
Contractors are assured the most techno-
logically advanced tools, tooling systems,
engineering services, and customer support,
designed around maximizing productivity
and improving performance.

Sherman + Reilly, Inc.
Since 1927, Chattanooga, Tenn., based
Sherman + Reilly has partnered with the
electric power industry and more recently
the telecommunications industry to provide
a wide range of power line and fiber optic
installation equipment and tools. Through-
out its history, Sherman + Reilly has recorded
an impressive track record for innovation,
earning more than 50 patents and design-
ing and engineering products that met the
unique safety needs of the power and tele-
communications industries. The company
has repeatedly passed the test of providing
equipment with industry-recognized durabil-
ity, reliability, and ease of use.
In the past few years, Sherman + Reilly has
begun a new journey, applying its years of
engineering and manufacturing experience
with advanced research, aimed at improving
operator safety on its equipment and setting
a new standard for equipment operation,
aptly named the Revolution Series. This new
generation of stringing equipment provides
advanced digital controls, joystick opera-
tion, on-board diagnostics, state-of-the-art
hydraulics, and fully environmental operator
cabs. From the Center for Disease Control
to the Center for Automotive Engineering
Research, studies show that operator safety
starts with providing a work space solu-
tion that keeps the operator insulated from
weather, dust, diesel fumes, vibration, and
noise, while providing improved visibility and
ergonomic seating. All of this is integral to
each of Sherman + Reilly’s new products that
it believes will become the de-facto standard
for all stringing equipment in the future.
Building on its history of providing qual-
ity and safe bundle block solutions for the
transmission sector of the power industry,
the company has recently introduced a new
generation of stringing equipment, from
dual bull-wheel tensioners to its unique
PTR-7230, a product that provides combined
