General Machine Products
General Machine Products Co., Inc. (GMP) has
introduced the Whisper Micro Cable Blower
to its complete line of fiber optic cable plac-
ing equipment. Engineered to install micro
fiber cable into pre-installed 0.157- to 0.708-
inch diameter microduct, the Whisper Micro
Cable Blower will place 0.078- to 0.334-inch
diameter cable at speeds up to 260 feet per
minute. This, along with its low maintenance
and high durability, makes the Whisper an
excellent value.
Ideal for smaller jobs where traditional,
field-size blowing machines are unsuitable,
the Whisper’s versatility, compact size, and
portable maneuverability make it perfectly
suited for both interior
and exterior fiber cable
placement applications.
The operating
principle behind the
Whisper is simple and
convenient. Microfiber
is propelled into the microduct by the use
of a conventional, variable speed drill (not
included). The unit is also engineered to
provide fast, on-site adjustments to accom-
modate multiple cable or duct sizes.
Other features include:
• Electronic monitoring system provides
digital read-outs of speed and distance
• Lightweight, precision machined, and
durable construction
• Integral air valve and pressure gauge
• Can be operated by a single person
• Backed by GMP’s 75 years of engineering
integrity and defect-free products and
services
For more than 75 years, GMP has been
recognized as a premier global supplier of a
wide range of products for the telecommu-
nications, power utility, and cable television
industries and the contractors who serve
them. Product applications include the
placement of fiber optic, copper conductor,
and coaxial cable both aerially and under-
ground.
TSE International
TSE’s parent company Timberland Equip-
ment Limited has announced the purchase
of certain assets of OK Champion. The OK
Champion business, located in Hammond,
Ind., has been a long time designer and
manufacturer of underground
cable handling equipment for the
telco, sewer, and electric power
markets with a history dating back
to 1897. Timberland Equipment’s
purchase of select OK Champion
assets positions it and TSE Inter-
national to commence the sale of
certain products including power
rodders, cable scrappers, and reel loaders
under the OK Champion brand. Engineering
and manufacturing of the products will be
done at Timberland Equipment’s facility in
Woodstock, Ontario. Timberland Equipment
and TSE International are both part of the
Timberland Group.
“The acquisition of these particular assets
and intellectual property fits extremely well
with the Timberland Group’s long-term
strategy of adding complementary, highly
engineered products in pulling and winch-
ing related equipment businesses,” said Mark
Gabourie, company president and CEO.
“Timberland Equipment is extremely excited
to add the capacity to produce these prod-
ucts to our portfolio as part of our plan to
significantly grow our business over the next
five years as the addition of these products is
expected to provide Timberland with some
additional unique niche market products.”
