A
s the holidays grow nearer and folks are making
their lists and checking them twice, the time
has come for PCCA members to start thinking
about the Annual PCCA Auction, which will
be held on Sunday March 16 during the 2014 PCCA Conven-
tion at the Frenchman’s Reef & Morning Star Marriott Beach
Resort in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
The auction is always one of the highlights of the con-
vention, filled with great items for bid, plenty of fast-paced
action, and lots of hilarity. But the auction is not only tons
of fun for all who attend, it is also crucial to PCCA’s efforts
throughout the year.
Thanks to all the generous donations from our members
over the years, we have raised thousands of dollars for PCCA
programs that directly benefit our membership. This year,
the auction proceeds were used to pay the development costs
for PCCA’s new educational programs: the Project Manag-
ers Academy (January 13-16, 2014, in Atlanta, Ga.) and the
Leadership Development Program (March 14, 2014, in St.
Thomas).
PCCA staff has begun gathering items for the 2014 auction,
and we are asking all of our members to consider making a
donation. In addition to benefiting the association, your do-
nation demonstrates your support of the power and commu-
nication construction industry. All auction donations, along
with the donor’s name and contact information, are writ-
ten up in the Annual Convention Program, and the names
of donating companies run in a constant loop on the big
screen behind the auctioneer throughout the auction. And, of
course, all items get big attention during the auction itself.
As you stroll through the mall or surf the internet for
gifts this holiday season, it is an ideal time to start think-
ing about your auction donation. You can be practical with
your donation (there will be lots of contractors in the room
looking jobsite assistance) or you can go outside-the-box and
pick something creative that will make a big splash and be
remembered by everyone in attendance.
Past auction items have included construction equipment,
hunting and fishing trips, cruises, tickets to sporting events,
golf clubs, gift baskets, jewelry, gift cards, and even a gas-
powered blender! Values of the donations range from $100 to
as much as $20,000.
To donate an item to the PCCA Auction, call Stacy Bow-
dring
) or Dana Gilbertson (dgil-
) at (703) 212-7734 or shoot them an
email. For your item and company to be included in the Con-
vention Program, we will need your information by February
1, 2014.
Thanks in advance for your generosity, and we’ll see you
in St. Thomas!

PCCA Auction Update:
Vermeer Visits Lambeau
U
sing tickets purchased at the 2013 PCCA
Auction, a Vermeer crew of (from left) Doug
Hundt, Jason Andringa, David Wisniewski, and
Tony Briggs joined Michels Corporation for the Green
Bay Packers-Detroit Lions game at legendary Lambeau
Field on October 6. Michels donates Packers tickets to
the auction every year. News reports say that the Packers
won the game 22-9 and that Ron and Bonnie Tagliapietra
were fabulous hosts.
“We had an absolutely wonderful time with the
Michels group,” Briggs said. “It was my first time to
Lambeau, and the day could not have been better. We
had spectacular weather, the Packers won, and I brought
home a cheesehead!”
