John Deere’s K-Series 4WD Wheel Loaders
now feature three models that meet Final
Tier 4 emissions standards. The engine up-
date also allowed John Deere to offer several
machine enhancements to the 624K, 644K,
and 724K for added durability, productivity,
increased uptime, and lower daily operating
costs.
“Our goal when updating the K-Series
engines to Final Tier 4 was to integrate the
engine with minimal machine impact and
to maintain the performance features our
customers have come to know and expect
from John Deere wheel loaders,” said Chris
Cline, Deere product marketing manager for
utility wheel loaders. “The engine update also
allowed our engineers to implement several
customer-inspired solutions, including axle
improvements and several feature upgrades
to better meet the needs of today’s wheel
loader operator.”
The implementation of a John Deere Pow-
erTech EPA Final Tier 4/EU Stage IV engine
delivers impressive torque to help maintain
good boom and bucket speed in and out
of the pile for heaped loads, even in wet or
hard-packed material. The new wheel loader
models weigh the same as their Interim Tier
4 predecessors with no increase in machine
dimensions.
The K-Series boasts several axle improve-
ments for increased durability in demanding
conditions, including standard axle cooling
and filtration, along with brake retractors and
adjustors on the Teammate V axles. Standard
axle cooling and filtration keeps axle oil and
its components cooler in hard breaking and
significant load-and carry applications.
For added protection, axle oil is filtered
by continuously cleaning wear particle and
debris out of the oil. Together, this system
provides increased engine reliability, durabil-
ity, and longevity. Finally, brake reactors and
automatic self-adjustors were added to elimi-
nate brake drag and to maintain a constant
brake running clearance with better compli-
ance and less heat.

General Machine Products Co., Inc. (GMP) is
pleased to introduce the AirStream Cable
Blowing Machine to its line of fiber optic
cable placing equipment. Specifically de-
signed to safely install micro fiber cable into
pre-installed 5- to 18-mm OD micro duct, the
AirStream will place 2.5- to 11-mm OD cable
at speeds up to 80 meters per minute. This,
along with its low maintenance and high
reliability, makes the AirStream an excellent
value.
The AirStream incorporates a tabletop
design with easy-to-use ergonomic controls
for one-person operation. The unit uses a
double belt drive concept, backed by the
latest in servo control technology, to provide
a secure cable grip with precise torque and
speed control. The pushing force, up to 20 kg
maximum, can be adjusted to suit the cable
stiffness.
The AirStream uses compressed air to in-
stall micro fiber cable into micro duct in both
indoor and outdoor environments. Its electri-
cally powered, double belt drive system con-
trols the cable as it is propelled through the
micro duct. An electronic monitoring system
provides read-outs of speed and distance
and includes an emergency stop capability.
Compressors are available to accommo-
date GMP’s complete line of Cable Blowing
Machines. On-site training is available with
purchase, and rental and rent-to-own pro-
grams are available.
Other features include one-person
operation, tabletop design with ergonomic
controls, cable speed and distance monitor-
ing on a digital display, variable torque and
speed control, forward and reverse opera-
tion, easy cable threading, polycarbonate
safety guard over the double belt drive, and
reduced noise levels.
With the purchase of any GMP fiber cable
blowing machine, onsite training is provided
at no additional cost. Compressors are also
available to accommodate GMP’s complete
line of fiber cable blowing machines. Note:
the AirStream requires 110/120 Volt AC
service.
