customer needs.

PLP provides a lean manufacturing initiative and strong principles

of continuous improvement. In 2014, PLP expanded its state-of-the-

art Ohio research and engineering facility by 50 percent. This expan-

sion included two new vibration spans and dedicated rooms for envi-

ronmental and heat cycle testing. Additionally in 2014, PLP completed

a 40,000-square-foot expansion of its Rogers, Ark., plant. PLP moved

key production machines for rubber compression molding and plastic

injection molding into the new space and relocated hundreds of tons

of sophisticated and fragile equipment. Additional equipment will be

up and running in August 2014.

PLP also expanded its global renewable energy power generation

by adding a PV solar array at its manufacturing facility in Albemarle,

N.C. The 50 kW grid-tied photovoltaic system is divided into multiple

arrays positioned on the roof, parking area, and front lawn of the facil-

ity. The mounting hardware systems feature the POWER-FAB CRS, Top-

of-Pole, and MPM-G2 ground mount systems designed and manufac-

tured by PLP’s wholly owned subsidiary, DPW Solar, in Albuquerque,

N. Mex. PLP expects the system to generate more than 66 MW-hrs per

year of clean energy supplying a portion of the electricity consumed

by the manufacturing facility.

PLP is committed to providing exceptional products, customer

service, technical support, training, and emergency storm response.

PLP is “The Connection You Can Count On.”

Ditch Witch

Ditch Witch introduces two new horizontal directional drills: the JT60

and the JT60 All Terrain. Each drill is equipped with 60,000 pounds of

thrust and pullback plus 9,000 foot-pounds of rotational torque—a

powerful combination that results in exceptionally efficient and pro-

ductive installation of utilities.

Powering each drill is the contractor’s choice of a 190-gross-hp Tier

3 or 200-gross-hp Tier 4i diesel engine. Both engines provide sufficient

power for each drill’s mechanical and hydraulic components, includ-

ing an onboard, 150-gpm fluid pump that helps ensure productive

drilling at greater distances. The pump

is enclosed to reduce noise and protect

components from harsh conditions.

A climate-controlled cab, a heavy-du-

ty double rack-and-pinion thrust drive,

intuitive carve mode, easy service-

ability, and many of the other features

shared by these drills are results of di-

rect input from customers. One feature

unique to the JT60 All Terrain direc-

tional drill is the patented, two-pipe

All Terrain drilling system that provides
