Kennametal Inc.
With proprietary block features such as an
internal groove on the block bore and a wide
variety of tip geometries and bit selections,
all backed by outstanding service and sup-
port, Kennametal’s new rotating/non-rotat-
ing block and bit system, RockRazor, provides
contractors maximum flexibility and value for
trenching and foundation drilling.
Having the right tools for the right ap-
plication makes it easy to improve perfor-
mance and save time and money. With one
block style, featuring an octagonal hole in
the block rear and an internal groove on
the block bore, three different retainers can
be used along with six different rotating or
non-rotating tips. Not only can rotating bits
be quickly swapped out with non-rotating
bits when applications or conditions change,
non-rotating flat-spade bits can be indexed
in up to four positions for maximum produc-
tivity. Or use a combination of both the flat
spade tool along with Kennametal’s “X” Series
conical tools. Flat spade tools assist in clean-
ing out loose material faster; top-line conical
tools cut the harder material.
At the tip end, proprietary point designs
combine with Kennametal’s advanced
carbide grades and higher head hardness,
resulting in far less cracking and longer
performance in even the most abrasive
conditions.
Kennametal Inc. is a leading
global manufacturer of tooling
and associated engineering
services for successful con-
struction work. Contractors
are assured the most techno-
logically advanced tools, tooling systems,
engineering services, and customer support,
designed around maximizing productivity
and improving performance.
Pittsburgh Pipe
For more than 34 years, Pittsburgh Pipe and
its employees have dedicated themselves
to the underground utility construction
industry by supplying high-quality duct,
utility boxes, steel casing, telecom, and
electrical supplies to utility contractors across
the nation. In 2008, Pittsburgh Pipe built a
state-of-the-art fabrication facility manufac-
turing steel casing pipe in custom sizes up
to 100-inches OD for utility projects. More
recently, the company added the capability
to supply RUS-approved fiber optic cable
with delivery capabilities of six weeks after
receipt of order.
Preformed Line Products
Preformed Line Products (PLP) is a world-
wide designer, manufacturer, and supplier
of high-quality cable anchoring and control
hardware systems, fiber optic and copper
splice closures, high-speed cross-connect
devices, and solar hardware.
PLP offers innovative product solutions
like the COYOTE family of fiber optic splice
closures, the ARMADILLO family of copper
splice closures, and the FIBERLIGN family of
cable attachment hardware solutions.
PCCA members can embrace the future
of fiber optic network connectivity with the
new COYOTE ONE Dome closure featuring
next-generation
sealing
systems and the patented segmented end
plate. The newest member of the COYOTE
Closure family ensures easier installation and
faster re-entry, and there is never a need
to disrupt other cables when servicing a
network.
PLP is also introducing a new innova-
tive addition to the FIBERLIGN family, the
FIBERLIGN In-Span Storage System (FIS). It is
designed to make aerial slack cable storage
faster and easier for All Dielectric Self Sup-
porting (ADSS) cable and Lashed Messenger
Cable Systems. The FIS improves upon the
storage brackets currently on the market
with its Cable Capture Tab design, which
holds the cable in place, allowing hands-on
installation and reduction of cable ties, thus
streamlining the entire process. Multiple
cables can be stacked vertically providing in-
creased storage capacity. The new FIS comes
in two sizes and offers a range of accessories.
TT Technologies
The Grundowinch line of hydrostatic
constant-tension winches from TT Technolo-
gies are specially designed for the variable
conditions in below-grade work. All models
feature protective cable storage and are
available with an air-cooled diesel or gas en-
gine, as well as an adjustable boom system.
Portable and powerful, Grundowinch is well-
suited for underground utility construction
applications including underground cable
pulling, pipe bursting, sliplining, pipe pulling,
and swage lining.
The constant-tension design feature means
any cable slack is immediately sensed and
quickly taken up automatically. This makes
for an ideal winch for sensitive operations.
Control is easy with a number of convenience
and operational features such as single-lever
tension control (no gears to engage), power
assisted winch line feed, and winch
controls located at the rear of
the unit to provide a safe view of
the job while operating.
