Line/connector sensors measure conductor/connector
temperature, catenary, and line current. The lightweight,
maintenance-free sensors are self-powered from the line cur-
rent and can run approximately 45 days with no line current.
They communicate using a 2.4 GHz RF signal to a base sta-
tion, which aggregates the data from multiple sensors.
Weather nodes collect wind speed and direction, baromet-
ric pressure and ambient temperature. The weather nodes are
solar powered with approximately two weeks’ maintenance-
free battery backup. The estimated battery life is 10 to 12
years.
Leakage current sensors monitor insulators and equipment
bushings for contamination buildup. Sensors mount to the
grounded side of the insulator/bushing and communicate
wirelessly back to a base station.
Base stations collect and aggregate data from up to 128
devices. Base stations also collect the same weather data
as a weather node and are available with optional relative
humidity sensor, rain gauge and pyranometer. They are solar
powered with approximately two weeks’ maintenance-free
battery backup.
All components can operate in an environmental rating of
-40°C to 50°C ambient.
Vac-Tron Introduces Gas Unit
V
ac-Tron Equipment, an industry innovation leader
in vacuum excavation, recently introduced the new
LP 533/833 SGT, its new gas unit. Powered by a
37-horsepower Kohler gas engine, this unit has similar perfor-
mance specs as the pre tier 4 final SDT model with 1000 CFM
Vacuum Pump. The SGT delivers great performance with a
much lower cost of the Tier 4 final diesel option.
The machine features the new Series 33 Safety Rear Door.
The hydraulic screw rear door offers a high-torque motor
with a self-adjusting threaded shaft designed for low mainte-
nance and easy operation. It opens to a full 90-degree angle
and is equipped with a safety lock that engages automati-
cally.
It features CVS Filtration Housing. The LP ground level fil-
tration housing also incorporates a 28-inch-diameter cyclone,
four-way valve for reverse pressure, and a large silencer for
quiet performance (patent pending).
The SGT has an optional strong arm, which helps support
the weight of the vacuum hose. And it has a 6-inch debris
discharge valve for quickly off-loading liquid materials by
gravity or under pressure to another container.
The machine features an easy-access engine compartment
for service and regular maintenance of all components.
