The 100 MWac utility-scale solar power plant, which is
located in the Haldimand County, will include approximately
440,000 Canadian Solar CS6X high performance modules. The
PV modules and medium-voltage power stations will be manu-
factured in the partnership’s new London, Ontario, Canada
facility, which will also supply other Samsung solar projects
in Ontario. The facility alone is expected to bring 200 local
manufacturing jobs to London by the end of 2013, as promised
in the Green Energy Investment Agreement between Samsung
and the Government of Ontario. In total, Sam-
sung’s GEIA project is expected to create 9,000
renewable energy jobs across the province.
“We thank Samsung and Connor Clark &
Lunn Infrastructure, as we enthusiastically
move to the construction phase of this land-
mark project,” said Canadian Solar Chairman
and CEO Dr. Shawn Qu. “When completed,
this will be Canada’s largest PV project ever
built. We are highly confident in our team’s
ability to complete this large-scale project on
schedule and on budget, while creating new
employment opportunities and achieving the
optimum power efficiency generation target lev-
els anticipated to be delivered by the project.”

for Caribbean

(CRTE), a consulting firm focused
on renewable energy generation,
in October announced a ground-
breaking engagement with NRG Energy and
mobile telecommunications operator Digicel
to support the development, acquisition, con-
struction, and operation of renewable energy
projects throughout the Caribbean region.
CRTE will work with NRG and Digicel to
deploy investment capital and bring financial
and environmental benefits to the govern-
ments, utilities, and people of the Caribbean.
The types of projects being sought are
primarily solar, but as CRTE President Mark
Crowdis said, “Understanding the right mix
of technologies, from energy storage to wind
systems to solar, is key in providing the great-
est financial and environmental benefits to the region. Proven
technologies with a track record of successful performance
will be the cornerstone of this effort.”
CRTE will manage a request for proposals process for
NRG and Digicel to solicit property owners, developers,
governments, installers, and others to provide information
on renewable energy projects in development for possible
investment. NRG and Digicel endeavor to co-develop, and/or
