For example, USDA is considering regulatory reforms
related to “project financing” requirements and to clarify
how Rural Utilities Service determines eligibility for financing
renewable energy and smaller projects. Details are posted at
the USDA Electric Program website:
UEP_HomePage.html.
The 2013 REMDC Annual Meeting is hosted by the Tri-
County Electric Membership Cooperative and focuses on
finding ways to improve the effectiveness of management at
rural electric systems.
USDA has an extensive portfolio of rural infrastructure
investments. These investments revitalize rural communities
and create sustainable opportunities for wealth, new jobs,
and increased economic activity in rural America. Since 2009,
USDA has funded 650 rural electric utility projects through-
out the nation. More than 8 million rural electric customers
benefit from these projects annually.
