Communications
Communications spending
has historically been the most volatile of all utility segments.
In late 2011, we published a forecast that anticipated 2011 to
generate 5 percent growth, 2012 to show 10 percent growth,
and then a leveling of growth through 2014 where 2015 dem-
onstrated a shrinking market. Today, the underlying long-term
fundamentals of this market still revolve around unrelenting
and increasing bandwidth demand, but this long-term growth
expectation will be interrupted. We now know that 2011 was
not as robust as originally expected, and 2012 is also show-
ing slower growth than originally anticipated. We also expect
