Vermeer CEO Appointed
to President’s Export Council
V
ermeer Corporation recently announced the ap-
pointment of CEO Mary Andringa to the Presi-
dent’s Export Council (PEC), as announced by
President Barack Obama. Andringa was selected
by the President to serve on the council as a private-
sector representative for business, industry, agriculture,
and labor.
“It’s both an honor and a
pleasure to serve the fam-
ily business and our country
through this appointment
to the President’s Export
Council,” Andringa said. “I
look forward to representing
Vermeer and the manufactur-
ing industry in an effort to ex-
pand export trade and further
support a successful business
environment globally.”
Andringa currently serves
as the president and CEO of Vermeer Corporation, a
family-owned manufacturing company located in Pella,
Iowa. Vermeer was founded by Andringa’s father, Gary
Vermeer, in 1948 and currently manufactures a wide
range of agricultural and industrial products. Andringa
has worked for Vermeer since 1982, holding positions
in market research and serving as the chief operating
officer from 1989 until 2003. Andringa is active on a
number of boards, including her current role as vice
chair of the National Association of Manufacturers.
The PEC, through the Secretary of Commerce, advis-
es the President on matters relating to and expanding
U.S. export trade. The PEC is the principal national ad-
visory committee on international trade. It advises the
President on government policies and programs that
affect U.S. trade performance, promotes export expan-
sion, and provides a forum for discussing and resolving
trade-related problems among the business, industrial,
agricultural, labor, and government sectors. Andringa
was one of 20 private-sector members appointed for
2010.

Elliott’s 30105R
Checks in for Salt Mine Duty
S
cott Powerline Equipment recently delivered a
customized Elliott Equipment Company 30105R
BoomTruck to the North American Salt Mine
Company. This truck-mounted crane was pur-
chased to perform salt mining operations 1,550 feet
underground within the mine.
North American Salt chose Elliott’s product because
of its solid construction and the company’s reputation
as a leader in custom engineered solutions.
Elliott Equipment’s engineers worked closely with
North American Salt’s user group and modified this
30105R crane by adding a specialized 1,000-pound
hydraulic drill attached to an 800-pound capacity,
remote-controlled steel work platform. The customized
system lets two miners move close to the mine face
and drill from within the work platform, saving time
and money.
