W

hile trips are being bid on during

the annual PCCA Auction, it’s only

natural for folks to speculate on how

those trips will play out in real life.

We think things like, “That’s a perfect

place to take all those kids,” or “They’re really going to enjoy

that golf course,” or “Gee, I hope that stadium has enough

Bud Light.” And when the bidding starts for the four-day

weekend at the Sellenriek’s place on the Lake of the Ozarks,

that speculation gets ramped up a notch or two.

When Tucker Dotson of Ditch Witch purchased the Sellen-

riek Lake Weekend at the 2015 PCCA Auction in Aruba, here

is what absolutely nobody in the room was thinking: “That

sounds like a perfect spot for a mid-year sales meeting!” But

as it turned out, that’s exactly what happened.

“This trip really encompassed everything you look for in a

business trip: planning, setting goals, camaraderie with your

co-workers, and beautiful place,” Dotson said. “And to top it

off, we got to spend a lot of time with a good customer. The

Sellenrieks are great hosts.”

Ditch Witch has a mid-year sales meeting each year that

focuses on plans and goals for the second half of the year.

“Usually it’s in Perry (Oklahoma), but once in a while, we go

off campus to give everyone a little time to unwind,” Dotson

said.

This year, they held two

days of meetings at Cam-

den on the Lake (home of

the 2014 PCCA Mid-Year

Meeting), with 23 indi-

viduals from the corporate

sales team, including three

representatives from their

Barcelona, Spain, office.

The meetings included an

upbeat economic forecast

from FMI’s Chris Daum.

On the last day of their

trip, the Ditch Witch crew

spent the whole day with

the Sellenrieks at their

lake house. “Nobody hosts

people better than they do,”

Dotson said. “They had

more than enough of everything for 23 people, and they even

had a band there playing for us. The Sellenrieks treat every-

one like they matter. You just can’t find better people.”

And what about the PCCA Auction? “I know this,” Dotson

said, “we way underpaid for the value they gave us.”

The 2016 PCCA Auction is on March 6, during the 71st An-

nual PCCA Convention, March 4-9, at the Ocean Reef Club in

Key Largo, Fla.
