Title: Types of Rights Licenses

Hello,

Using other people’s content is a great way to start building your
business when you’re just getting started, but it can be a huge
waste of money if you buy the wrong type of license.

We’re going to take a look at some of the most common types of
content licenses, and how you can figure out which one you should
get for your purposes.

Keep in mind that not all content sellers thoroughly understand
the different types of licenses, and their terms may vary, so you
should always read a license thoroughly before you purchase a
package of content so you know exactly what you can and cannot
do with it before you buy.

Resale Rights (RR)

Resale rights gives you the right to sell the content as-is.

Once you purchase the content, you can sell it, and sometimes
give it away for free, but you cannot pass on the right to sell
the content, and you cannot alter the content.

Master Resale Rights (MRR)

Master resale rights typically grants the same rights as
resale rights, but also grants the ability to sell resale rights
to other people. Occasionally, it will also grant the ability to
sell master resale rights.

Private Label Rights (PLR)

Private label rights typically grants you the same rights as
resale rights, but you also have the ability to alter the content
and claim ownership or authorship of it.

White Label Rights (WLR)

White label rights is very similar to PLR or resale rights, but
many times the product stays on the content creator’s server
and you simply sell access to it.

It could also be something like downloadable software that is
personalized with YOUR name as the content creator, or something
similar.

It works a bit like an affiliate program, only instead of promoting
a product and getting paid a percentage of sales, you pay an
upfront fee and keep all (or most) of the profits.

Which License Should You Choose?

The type of content you should buy depends on your purposes.

If you want to sell the content to end users (people who will
actually read the content and use the information) then you should
probably choose PLR or white label rights.

If you want to sell content to other users who want to sell it,
you would need to secure master resale rights.

I don’t recommend standard resale rights for most purposes, because
the licenses are quite limited, and the content can’t be edited.
However, it can be a good option for using as bonuses or giveaways
if the license allows such use.

Tomorrow we are going to explore some of the different ways you
can use rights content, so don’t miss it!
