Title: Choosing a Media Outlet for Your Story

Hey there,

So, now you have your marketing stories weaved in your launch
campaign as we discussed in yesterday's emails. And you are ready
to release them to your audience.

How do you know which media outlet will enable you to better engage
and connect with your target audience?

As you think about a media outlet to help you share and distribute your
marketing stories, three things should be considered:

1: Target Audience
You'll want to clearly define who the people you want to reach are
and identify which channels of communication they actively use.

Don't assume that someone who regularly uses Facebook also uses
Instagram. When you begin researching you'll quickly discover just
how different those audiences are and you'll need to adapt your
marketing campaigns accordingly.

2: Secondly, you must consider your budget – how much do you want to
spend distributing your marketing stories? This is important because it
will have bearing on the format of your story and how long you will run
your marketing campaign.

3: Format
You'll then want to determine the format that your story will be presented
in. Your marketing story can be told in a variety of formats – in text, video,
photo or audio formats.

Each of these formats has its own advantages and disadvantages, so you’ll need
to do evaluate each and determine what works best for you.

Bearing these points in mind, there are numerous marketing channels that
are available to you – from blogs, video communities to print media.

The good news is you don’t have to use every channel. Instead, pick a few
channels that your target audience uses and test the waters.

Even as you narrow your focus down to just a few channels, evaluate your
options by asking yourself these 2 questions:

1: Which marketing channel is your business using currently? It's often
easier to integrate storytelling campaigns into places where you already
have a precensee.

2: Which channels would you like to add to your marketing campaigns that
you feel are accessible? Not every platform will be a good fit for your
brand.

Now that you know how to choose a marketing channel, which channel do you
think will help you better maximize your outreach and connect with your
customer base?

Can your marketing budget support a marketing campaign on that channel?

Think about these two questions as we wrap the week up tomorrow with a final
email on a very important topic: How to effectively track the success of your
marketing stories.

Don’t miss that,
