Dexter + Chaney
D
exter + Chaney, developers of Spectrum
Construction Software, announced that the
upcoming release of Spectrum will operate in
a browser and be very easy to use. Spectrum
Version 14 includes many new features, and the software will
now be accessible via any web browser from any location
using any internet-connected device.
“Delivering Spectrum as
a browser-based product
means our customers can
access all the features of
their software anywhere,
anytime, from any device,”
company President John
Chaney said. “Developing
software for use with a web browser means designing inter-
faces that are easy to use and that anticipate the information
that different users need to see.”
Spectrum Version 14 can be hosted by the client or offered
as a “software-free” cloud product. “Contractors can now ac-
cess the software without having to load a single disk or buy
a single new piece of hardware,” Chaney said. “New custom-
ers will find the cost of switching to Spectrum has never been
lower, and existing customers will benefit from a lower total
cost of ownership.”
Sumitomo Electric Lightwave
S
umitomo Electric Lightwave, a leader in the devel-
opment, innovation, and manufacturing of optical
fiber, fiber optic cable, and connectivity solutions,
introduces the Quantum Type-Q101-CA Dual-Heater
Core Alignment Fusion Splicer, the first splicer launched in
its new Quantum Splicer product line.
The new unit is a small (4.72W x 6.06D x 4.96H inches)
and light (4.4 pounds), yet rugged, core-alignment fusion
splicer. It has a fully navigational touch screen monitor; SD
port, plus video, audio, and software uploads/downloads;
remote internet maintenance; large (640x320) fiber view; and
long electrode life for better optical fiber splicing efficiencies
in the data center, enterprise network, FTTx, and outside
plant environments.
The Quantum is designed to address the needs of techni-
cians for easier and faster splicer functionality, significantly
expanded memory storage, improved ruggedness (stringent
shock, water-proof, and dust compliance), and optimum
splicing efficiencies in speed and performance.
The splicer’s fully functional touch-screen interface makes
navigation more intuitive, faster, and easier. The Quantum
incorporates both the touch-screen and keypad interfaces. It
also has an SD port for virtually unlimited data storage, plus
the capability of downloading and uploading work-related
splicing project data, training videos, audio, and software.
