When is the earliest possible DNA paternity test?
From the 8th week of pregnancy, you can take a test based on the blood of a future mother and a cheek swab from the alleged father. This is the earliest test for pregnancy paternity. In this case, a patented method is used, which consists in isolating from the blood of a woman not only her DNA, but also the fetal DNA.
This is possible because there is free fetal DNA of the baby circulating in the bloodstream of the pregnant woman - in the 8th week of pregnancy there is enough of it that a paternity test can be done. Later, this genetic material is compared to the DNA of a man and checked if there is a biological relationship between them.
You can also do a paternity DNA test after 15 weeks of pregnancy based on amniotic fluid. Then any samples, e.g. used razor, hair with bulbs, chewing gum or many other materials are handed over from parents.
